A portion of Talaandig Tribe ancestral domain at Mt. Kalatungan Range Natural Park was deforested due to forest fires and illegal logging. Together with DOST Bukidnon, LGU Pangantucan and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), we introduced a new way of planting #Trees to Talaandig Tribal Women and demonstrated seedball making for drone reforestation at Mt. Kalatungan.
Project RED-I (Reforestation & Enhancement of the Denuded land thru Innovative Adaptation of Drone Technology) is a multisectoral reforestation project by the Community Empowerment thru Science & Technology (CEST) program of DOST with the full support from DENR Protected Area Management Board (PAMB), and Municipality of Pangantucan in the Province of Bukidnon
Seeds to be planted are endemic species of trees found in Mt. Kalatungan collected by Talaanding tribe in the area.
Happy International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples! We celebrate it by restoring their ancestral domain through our technology. We’re all in this together. 🌱
