ILIGAN — We extend our heartfelt gratitude for the recent visit from the Forest Foundation Philippines at our Technology Business Incubator (TBI), iDEYA. Alongside eTanom and Ecosystems Work for Essential Benefits (ECOWEB), Inc., we delved into opportunities for potential collaboration and projects aimed at forest conservation and reforestation in the Lake Lanao watershed area and other parts of Mindanao.

This encounter not only reinforced our determination but also presented us with a precious chance to grow together and continue our mission of empowering communities by planting trees, just like the bird!

The visit from the Forest Foundation Philippines, lead by Forester Eric Buduan, was a significant milestone for our ongoing efforts in environmental conservation. It provided a platform for meaningful discussions on how we can collectively address the pressing issues of deforestation and environmental degradation in Mindanao. The collaboration with eTanom and ECOWEB, Inc. further strengthens our network of partners dedicated to sustainable development and ecological restoration.

During the meeting, we explored various innovative approaches to enhance our reforestation initiatives. One of the key topics was the use of advanced technologies, such as drone-assisted seed dispersal, to efficiently cover large areas and ensure the successful establishment of native tree species. This method not only accelerates the reforestation process but also ensures that the right species are planted in suitable habitats, promoting biodiversity and ecosystem resilience.

We also discussed the importance of community involvement in our projects. By engaging local communities, we aim to create a sense of ownership and responsibility towards the environment. This approach not only empowers individuals but also ensures the sustainability of our reforestation efforts. Training programs and workshops will be conducted to equip community members with the necessary skills and knowledge to actively participate in forest conservation activities.

The Lake Lanao watershed area, being one of the critical ecosystems in Mindanao, was a focal point of our discussions. We emphasized the need to protect and restore this vital watershed to ensure water security and support the livelihoods of the communities dependent on it. Our collaborative efforts will focus on planting native tree species that are well-adapted to the local conditions, thereby enhancing the ecological health of the watershed.

We are immensely grateful to the Forest Foundation Philippines for their support and commitment to our shared vision. Their visit has inspired us to push forward with renewed vigor and determination. Together with our partners, we are confident that we can make a significant impact on forest conservation and reforestation in Mindanao.
