Cagayan de Oro, the golden city of friendship, might soon be the first city in the Philippines to use Galansiyang’s drone technology for reforestation. Galansiyang, a Filipino-Japanese startup known for its innovative approach to environmental conservation, has been invited by Cagayan de Oro city Mayor Hon. Rolando A. Uy to explore a potential collaboration. This initiative aims to leverage Galansiyang’s cutting-edge drone technology to plant trees and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for various community groups.

The proposed collaboration will involve the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) and several other key city departments. The initiative will focus on producing seedballs, which will be dispersed using drones to facilitate reforestation efforts. The seedball production will provide economic opportunities for Indigenous women, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), inmates, and local farmers, thereby fostering inclusive growth and community empowerment.

Mayor Uy expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its potential to transform Cagayan de Oro into a model city for sustainable development. “We are excited about the possibilities this collaboration with Galansiyang brings. It aligns perfectly with our vision of a greener, more inclusive city,” he said.

The City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) will play a pivotal role in the project, coordinating efforts with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) CdeO City Jail, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD), the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), the City Improvement Division (CID), and the Office for Community Affairs (OCA). These departments will support the initiative by providing resources and facilitating the involvement of various community groups in the seedball production process.

Galansiyang’s innovative drone technology has already shown promising results in previous reforestation projects. By using drones to disperse seedballs, the company has been able to cover large areas quickly and efficiently, significantly accelerating the reforestation process. This technology not only enhances the effectiveness of reforestation efforts but also reduces the physical labor required, making it an ideal solution for challenging terrains.

The collaboration with Cagayan de Oro represents a significant step forward for Galansiyang. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Cagayan de Oro and contribute to their reforestation efforts.
